Reynaud
Reynaud, Paul (1878-1966)Held ministerial positions in the French government in the 1930s and was well known for his opposition to Nazi Germany. He replaced Edouard Daladier as Prime Minister in 1940, but was outmanoeuvred by his deputy Marshal Petain who sought an armistice with the Germans. He only remained in office for twelve weeks. His injury in a car crash in June 1940 prevented him from joining the 'Free French' movement and he was imprisoned by the Germans in Austria from 1943-45.
